Indulge in these warm, buttery garlic parmesan breadsticks that are easy to make and utterly irresistible—perfect for any gathering!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water (100°F – 110°F)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese (freshly grated)
  • 1 tsp dried Italian herbs (basil, oregano, thyme)

Instructions

  1. 1. Activate the yeast: In a bowl, combine warm water and sugar, then stir in active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. 2. Prepare the dough: In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture until a smooth dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until elastic.
  3. 3. Let it rise: Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  4. 4. Shape your breadsticks: Punch down the dough and divide it into approximately 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into sticks about 8 inches long.
  5. 5. Add toppings: Mix melted butter with garlic powder and dried herbs. Brush each stick with this mixture and sprinkle parmesan cheese on top.
  6. 6. Bake: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange breadsticks on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider mixing minced fresh garlic into the butter before brushing.
  • You can also experiment by adding herbs directly into the dough for extra aroma.
