Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, grated
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • ½ cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine chicken pieces and set aside.
  2. In another bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes to create the sauce.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add chicken in batches and cook until golden brown and crispy (5-7 minutes).
  5. Toss in minced garlic and grated ginger; sauté for about 1 minute.
  6. Pour the sauce over the chicken, stirring until well coated.
  7. Garnish with green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

  • For added crunch, consider double frying the chicken pieces.
  • You can also substitute chicken with tofu or shrimp for a different protein option.
  • Adjust the spice level by varying the amount of red pepper flakes or use sweet chili sauce for a milder flavor.
