Ingredients

  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Active Dry Yeast
  • Milk
  • Eggs
  • Butter
  • Powdered Sugar
  • Vegetable Oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk and active dry yeast in a bowl; let sit until foamy (about 5 minutes).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt. Make a well and add the yeast mixture.
  3. Add beaten eggs and melted butter; stir until just combined (lumps are okay).
  4. Knead dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled (about 1 hour).
  6. Roll out dough to ½ inch thick and cut into squares or triangles.
  7. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry beignets until golden brown on each side.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar while warm and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Experiment with fillings like chocolate or fruit jams for added flavor.
  •  Use fresh yeast for the best texture; old yeast can lead to flat results.
  •  Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature; reheat in the oven to regain crispiness.
