  • 34 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick), browned
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden brown and nutty; let cool.
  3. In a mixing bowl, mash the bananas. Stir in the browned butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually fold into the wet mixture until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  5. If desired, fold in nuts.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
